Wet Zone Botanic Gardens Avissawella

This botanic garden is situated near Avissawella and development started during 2008. The Botanic Garden is 105 acres in extent.

Ex-situ conservation of wet lowland plants is the main purpose of the garden and it will showcase various species of plants with economic, aesthetic and ecological value. The garden will provide opportunities for ecotourism and economic development in this area. It will be a model for wet zone landscape improvement while serving as a recreational area for the public.
